Presentation of the BMW Vision Neue Klasse concept

BMW Group has unveiled a new vehicle concept at the International Motor Show IAA Mobility in Munich, called the BMW Vision Neue Klasse, showcasing the appearance of the next generation of BMW vehicles.

This concept embodies a clear design language with spacious surfaces and distinctive streamlined lines. The interior introduces a new generation of the BMW iDrive system, ensuring a unique digital user experience that blends the real and virtual worlds.

Increased use of secondary raw materials, resource-efficient production, and fully electric propulsion with the BMW iDrive sixth-generation technology reduce the carbon footprint of Neue Klasse throughout the vehicle’s lifecycle.

“A 30% greater range, 30% faster charging, 25% greater efficiency – Neue Klasse represents a significant technological leap, which also applies to its design – which cannot be more futuristic,” says Frank Weber, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG responsible for development. “With Neue Klasse, we have embarked on the largest investment in the company’s history. We are not just writing the next chapter of BMW – we are writing an entirely new book. That’s why Neue Klasse will undoubtedly impact all generations of models.”

The exterior is clear, elegant, and timeless, and the new, fully electric vehicle architecture opens up new possibilities for interior design. With a higher percentage of secondary raw materials and significantly reduced material diversity, targeted improvements have been made to enhance circularity. The enhanced dismantling concept will also help optimize the recycling of Neue Klasse vehicles.

Analog operational controls in the BMW Vision Neue Klasse are minimized. The interaction between humans and the car takes place through BMW Panoramic Vision, the central display, and multifunctional buttons on the steering wheel. The user experience is completed with voice control through the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. In this way, the next generation of BMW iDrive offers a modern interpretation of driver orientation.

With the help of BMW Panoramic Vision, which will be available for the first time in Neue Klasse, information is projected at the ideal height within the driver’s field of view and for the first time across the entire width of the windshield.

The new generation of the BMW iDrive system allows the driver and front passenger to communicate with the information displayed on BMW Panoramic Vision, creating a shared user experience. Drivers can easily transfer content shown on the central display to BMW Panoramic Vision with a simple gesture.

The new BMW iDrive is based on a highly integrated software architecture that combines data related to the driving experience and infotainment with data from the vehicle’s electronics and electrical system and BMW Cloud. The interaction between humans and vehicles can thus be even more adapted to the driving situation and individual needs, enabling a completely new perception of mobility.

Produced in the new factory in Debrecen, Neue Klasse will also provide a significant boost for individual mobility with efficient resource use. Electrification, digitalization, and circularity are key elements of the transformation initiated by the BMW Group.
