100 Years of BMW MOTORRAD and the New BMW R 1300 GS

The 100th anniversary of the BMW Motorrad brand is marked with two Belgrade premieres: the BMW R 1300 GS and the BMW R18 Roctane.

Innovations, racing victories, world records, as well as true passion have defined the 100-year history of the BMW Motorrad brand, built with visionaries and those who know no bounds.

100 YEARS OF BMW MOTORRAD

It all began in 1923 when Max Friz designed the first BMW motorcycle, the R32, which was presented at the German Motor Show. Today, a century later, a rich past has laid the foundation for an impressive present and a revolutionary future.

On this occasion, BMW Motorrad Serbia celebrated the most significant anniversary to date with the premiere of two exclusive models, the BMW R 1300 GS and the BMW R18 Roctane, which confidently continue to write the pages of a vibrant history.

In honor of this rich heritage, a special “BMW Motorrad Heritage” exhibition was organized, warming the memories of true lovers of powerful two-wheelers. A special guest, Regional Brand Manager Roman Schabad, greeted visitors in Novi Dorćol.

The new BMW R 1300 GS and BMW R18 Roctane offer an exciting riding experience and are created for true adventurers eager for different challenges.

The unrivaled leader and top competitor, the BMW R 1300 GS, is even 12kg lighter than its predecessor and comes in a completely new, compact design with a new two-cylinder boxer engine and new suspension.

Its 1300cc engine produces a power of 107 kW (145 hp) with a maximum torque of 149 Nm at 6500 rpm, making it the most powerful BMW boxer engine ever produced in that series.

The impressive BMW R 18 Roctane is the fifth member of the R 18 family, combining rich tradition with the latest motorcycle technology, along with its authentic retro charm, making every road cruise a true pleasure.

The classic design expression of this model is complemented by impeccable technology, top-notch craftsmanship and materials, as well as the largest BMW twin-cylinder boxer engine of all time.

This boxer engine has 1,802cc and generates a power of 67 kW (91 hp). In the range of 2,000 to 4,000 rpm, the BMW R 18 Roctane delivers more than 150 Nm of torque at any moment.
