Introducing the new, fully electric MINI Cooper
The new, fully electric fifth-generation MINI Cooper represents a blend of recognizable tradition and current innovations, clearly aligning with MINI’s strategy to become an all-electric brand by 2030.
The new MINI Cooper is available in two variants: Cooper E and Cooper SE (the more powerful version). The MINI Cooper E features an electric motor of 135 kW/184 hp and generates a torque of 290 Nm. This version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds, with a range of 305 km according to the WLTP cycle.
On the other hand, the MINI Cooper SE has a power of 160 kW/218 hp with a maximum torque of 330 Nm. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds, with a range of 402 km according to the WLTP standard.
The Green Mode option optimizes drive efficiency, directing the electric motor toward maximizing range based on various parameters. Enhanced recuperation management in the new MINI Cooper directs excess energy into the battery, thereby increasing the range.
The design of the new generation MINI models is modern and digitally oriented, elevating the user experience to an entirely new level. The exterior of the new MINI Cooper is minimalist, aerodynamic, sporty, and focused on essential elements. The front of this electric vehicle is characterized by the iconic MINI circular headlights and a striking hexagonal grille.
Standard wheels are 16 inches in diameter, with optional 17 and 18-inch rims available to emphasize the typical MINI go-kart feeling.
The interior is minimalistically designed and features a reduced number of components that are optimally designed to the highest standards. The optional head-up display behind the steering wheel allows all relevant content to appear in the driver’s field of view. As a result, the driver’s side control panel does not require an additional screen, providing a clear view ahead.
The interior design exudes modernity, while the optional panoramic glass roof makes the interior particularly bright and pleasant. By folding the rear seats in a 60:40 ratio, the luggage space can be flexibly expanded from 200 to 800 liters.
The high-resolution OLED screen revolutionizes the user experience, setting a new standard. This central element is a defining feature of the interior with its diverse functions. Thanks to MINI Operating System 9, all vehicle functions can be intuitively controlled via touch or voice. MINI Operating System 9, internally developed by the BMW Group, is based on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) software package.
The graphical display of content is modern and focuses on key items. The upper part contains relevant vehicle information such as speed and battery status. When the speed indicator is pressed, a large, striking display with a speedometer across the entire screen appears, clearly focusing on driving.
In the main menu, other widgets are displayed as icons to the left and right of the current menu function. At the bottom of the OLED screen are menu items: navigation, media, phone, and climate, which can be directly selected at any time. All other functions can be accessed through menus in the same way as on a smartphone.
In addition, MINI Connected Upgrades enable digital and flexible use of additional vehicle functions. In combination with the optionally available MINI Connected package, the MINI Connected Store provides access to practical and entertaining applications, including games, music, and video streaming. The new AirConsole application provides a unique gaming experience for all passengers who control content on the OLED screen through their smartphones.
New assistance systems now make everyday driving even more comfortable. In addition to the automatic parking functions offered by Parking Assistant, the new optional Parking Assistant Plus makes the parking process even simpler.
Thanks to 12 ultrasonic sensors and four surround-view cameras, the vehicle can more clearly identify potential parking spaces and can even initiate parking maneuvers in confined spaces independently. Moreover, the regular manual parking process can be transferred to Parking Assistant Plus at any time. The research mode offers a practical solution, allowing the new MINI Cooper to be easily parked using a smartphone if the space on the side is too limited for entry.
The innovative MINI Digital Key Plus option brings a personalized experience to the vehicle, turning the smartphone into a key, allowing for automatic opening and closing of the vehicle.
Additional features enhancing user safety are also included. With the Remote 360 option, for example, the surroundings of the parked vehicle can be seen in the MINI app. The interior camera provides a view of the interior but also allows for photographing passengers and uploading materials to the smartphone via WiFi Direct.
