All-new BMW Series 5 premieres exclusively in Belgrade
Just a few days after its global premiere, the eighth generation of the BMW 5 Series was exclusively presented to the Belgrade audience at The BMW Store, including the first-ever availability of the fully electric BMW i5. The latest version of the iconic business sedan, with its recognizable elegant design and innovations, also brings a new level of comfort that can be explored until Friday, 02.06.2023, at The BMW Store in Galerija Beograd.
As the new BMW 5 Series represents a kind of artistic masterpiece with a unique expression, BMW Serbia has initiated a collaboration with the prestigious “Štab” gallery, one of the most active galleries in the field of contemporary visual arts in the country. Through this joint effort, contemporary art is affirmed, and young, talented artists are supported.
The presentation of the new 5 Series was complemented by a performance from renowned painter Svetlana Ninković, who, inspired by BMW’s innovation, showcased her personal process of creating sophisticated and exclusive works of art.
The audience also enjoyed the exhibited works of artists Zoran Kuzmanović, Ivana Milev, and Marko Vučković, whose pieces seamlessly fit into BMW’s exclusive concept.
The new BMW 5 Series brings an advanced level of digital services and the recognizable driving dynamics, accompanied by the perfect 50:50 weight distribution balance. The 5 Series has the largest dimensions to date, measuring 5060mm in length, with a record-breaking wheelbase of 2995mm. The front is characterized by new headlights with almost vertical LED daytime lights, while the grille can optionally be illuminated (BMW Iconic Glow).
It is possible to order the M aerodynamic package, as well as its “Pro” version with more black details. Optionally available are M Shadow Line headlights with a black background. The rear features typical L-shaped lights with additional chrome strips, and two distinctive lines stand out on the side surfaces.
For the first time, the standard equipment for the BMW 5 Series includes a completely vegan interior, including Veganza sports seats. Optionally, you can order an interior made of BMW Individual Merino leather, as well as fully electrically adjustable comfort seats.
The number of switches in the interior has been reduced, but without affecting the available functionalities. The control center represents a new interpretation of BMW’s driver-oriented approach with curved screens measuring 12.3 and 14.9 inches.
The new BMW 5 Series is the first model with an enhanced 8.5 user interface featuring the Quick Select function, speeding up access to desired submenus. This system allows for faster updates, improved tracking and planning of electric model journeys, as well as elements for entertainment (video streaming and use of the AirConsole platform). Optionally, you can order the functional BMW Interaction Bar with background LED lighting.
Specially adapted suspension systems ensure comfort during the drive, including the optional Adaptive Suspension Professional package with electro-controlled shock absorbers, integral active steering, and active stabilizers.
The wheels range in size from 18 to 21 inches, and the integral braking system assists in safe stopping. Standard equipment includes a steering wheel with a variable transmission ratio, as well as a parking assistant with reverse driving support.
The optional Professional package includes automatic parking and maneuvering using a mobile phone. The new BMW 5 Series has received other improvements, such as support for 5G, Personal eSIM, and BMW Digital Key Plus. Standard equipment includes support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
For the sales launch, four-cylinder petrol and diesel versions with a Mild Hybrid system are ready: 520i, 520d, and 520d xDrive. The petrol version has 153 kW/208 hp, and the diesel has 145 kW/197 hp.
Also, in the standard equipment is a new version of the eight-speed automatic transmission with an integrated electric motor. In early 2024, six-cylinder engines, both diesel and petrol, as well as Plug-in Hybrid versions 530e and 550e xDrive, are in preparation.
The first-ever fully electric BMW 5 Series is labeled i5, and the base version is marked eDrive40. The rear-mounted electric motor has a power of 250 kW/340 hp. The power source is a high-voltage battery with a capacity of 81.2 kWh, providing a range of 477 to 582 km according to the WLTP standard.
From the very start, the more powerful M60 xDrive version is available with two electric motors, totaling 442 kW/601 hp with a torque of 820 Nm and acceleration to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds.
The BMW i5 is the first fully electric model in the range to support the “Plug and Charge” function. The maximum charging power at DC chargers is up to 205 kW, and at standard AC 11 kW. It is possible to obtain 22 kW AC with an additional charge.
Proizvodnja nove BMW Serije 5 počinje u oktobru ove godine u najvećoj fabrici u Dingolfingu u kojoj se prozivode sve komponente, kao i visokonaponske baterije i elektromotori.
